Stratosphere Mission

FrontiersToSpace

Web platform visualizing sensor data from a stratospheric balloon mission, built with the German Amateur Radio Club (DARC) and the Passau Observatory. I owned the frontend and site architecture, and helped build and program the probe itself: sensor integration and APRS data transmission on a TTGO T-Beam.

FrontiersToSpace — Stratosphere Mission

As part of a geography seminar at the Adalbert Stifter Gymnasium, I developed FrontiersToSpace, a web platform that visualizes measurement data from a stratospheric balloon mission and makes the results accessible to a wider audience.

I was responsible for the entire frontend and website architecture. The stack pairs React for interactive interfaces with Astro for optimized load times and TailwindCSS for styling. Leaflet provides interactive maps tracing the balloon’s flight path, and Chart.js renders the collected sensor data as explorable charts.

Beyond web development, I helped build and program the probe itself, integrating sensors and setting up data transmission via APRS technology on a TTGO T-Beam board.

The project was a collaboration with the German Amateur Radio Club (DARC) and the Passau Observatory. It culminated on July 8, 2023, with a “Science Day” event hosted jointly at the school.
